Adam James Stiles (35), of Wapakoneta, leapt for the heavens on Sunday, June 6, 2021. He was born January 31, 1986 in Lima, Ohio to Rickey Joe and Mary Catherine Hemphill Stiles of Wapakoneta. Adam is survived by a son Braeden James Stiles whom he so dearly loved, also of Wapakoneta.
He played football, basketball, and ran track at Waynesfield-Goshen while in high school. He’d proudly say that his marks are still on the school’s website. Later in life, he developed a deep love for golf and enjoyed his time playing in the leagues and outings at the Prairie View Golf Club in Waynesfield. Adam was a huge fan of The Ohio State University and loved all sports. He especially loved the Cleveland Indians and for some reason any team LeBron James played for at the time. Adam owned several Ohio State (Alternate), and Cleveland Browns jerseys, but he’d probably say that even though he disrespected the shoe, his best investment was the one bought after the Browns signed Baker Mayfield.
After graduating in 2004 from Waynesfield Goshen High School he enlisted into the U.S. Army serving several tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. Afterwards, he returned home to work as a contractor with various military intelligence organizations. He was a member of the Waynesfield American Legion Post 395 where he had been recently elected Post Commander. Adam was also an officer of the Amvets Post 333 of Wapakoneta.
Adam loved hanging out and spending time with his friends and family. He was the most generous of souls, and gave no regard to what he had. Nothing ever left wanted was ever worth having. Adam was up for just about anything, so long as everyone was having a good time. He was an avid super hero movie buff: especially Super Man. He loved to sing, dance and was known for being the life of the party. Adam will be remembered as a wonderful young man whose smile could light up a room and if he hugged you, you knew that you had been hugged.
Also surviving are siblings – Tracie (Tom) Joseph of Waynesfield; Barry C. Stiles of Walbridge, Ohio and Tom (Carlie) Stiles of Wapakoneta; nieces and nephews – Peyton, Parker, Brylynn, Madilynn, Raelynn, and Griffin; He has too many aunts, uncles, and cousins to list them all as well as dear friends – Jed Finn and Ryan Motter both of whom he spent a lot of time with.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Superior Credit Union for his son, Braeden.
Military rites will be observed at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the American Legion Post 395, 104 West Wapakoneta Street, Waynesfield by the V.F.W. Post 8445 of Wapakoneta and active duty U.S. Army honor guards. The family will have a gathering at the post following military rites. In honor of Adam, please wear Ohio State.
