Alfretta Baber Weaver, age 87 of Lima, peacefully slipped from the arms of her family to her mother’s arms and into the hands of God, at 9:35 p.m., Thursday, January 31, 2013 . She died 40 years to the day of her mother’s death. She was born June 1, 1925 in Lima, Ohio; the daughter of the late John W. and Vivian A. Dixson Baber. On June 1, 1946 she married Emmet Daniel Weaver, who died December 12, 2011.
Previously she worked at Westinghouse Corporation; she was a homemaker and loved children. She was a 20 year volunteer with Lima Memorial Health Care Center’s Cerebral Palsy Clinic. She will be remembered for her spunkiness and her gift for playing the piano by ear. In her early years she loved riding horses and being a sharp shooter.
Survivors include 2 daughters – Connie J. (Michael) Martin of Bellefontaine; Deborah L. (Daniel) Longmeier of Cridersville; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a brother – John J. Baber of Lima; 2 sisters – Oletha (Hank) Zaborniak of Perrysburg; Ploma (Charles) Arnett of Lima; a brother-in-law – Forest Weaver of Lima; sister-in-laws – Lorma Baber of Maplewood; Marian Weaver of Lima, Ruth Honert of Lima; Molly Weaver of Florida; and a very special friend – Ruby Dawson of Lima
She was preceded in death by a brother – Grover Baber; 7 sisters – Ladonna Weaver, Velma Brown, Arlene Fritz, Marjorie Lange, Magdalena Kimpel, Caroline Place, and Walthea Helser.
Funeral services will begin noon on Monday, February 4, 2013 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Rev. Charles Martindell will officiate. Burial will follow in Shawnee Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., Sunday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Allen County and the Loving Care Hospice of Marysville.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Gables at Green Pastures for their care and compassion.
