Alice Mae Bruns, age 93 of Lima, died at 8:16 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2017 at Otterbein-Cridersville. She was born August 23, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio; to the late Roscoe C. and Marvel R. Teets Griffith. On June 2, 1946 she married Earl John Bruns who preceded her in death May 11, 2011.
She attended DeVilbiss High School, and graduated in 1945 by the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Schience degree. She was a substitute teacher at Shawnee Elementary School, a docent at the Allen County Historical Museum for nine years, worked for 23 years on the Silent Auction at the Museum’s Christmas Tree Festival, and was a 34 year volunteer at the Allen County, Ohio, Shapter of the American Red Cross, for which she received a J. C. Penney Golden Rule Award (forerunner of the Jefferson Award).
Since 1954, Alice was a member of the market Street Presbyterian Church; served a term as Chairman of the Board of Deacons, taught Sunday School Classes, and was the Church Librarian for many years.
She is survived by 3 sons – Donald E. (Linda K.) Bruns of Sarasota, Florida; Richard J. (Patricia) Bruns of Texas; and David J. (LouAnn) Bruns of Waterville, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at the family’s convenience.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Market Street Presbyterian Church or the Allen County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
