Anna M. Courtney, age 87 of Lima, died at 4:30 p.m., Friday, August 27, 2010 in Auglaize Acres, Wapakoneta. She was born July 21, 1923 in Lima, Ohio. She is the daughter of Lawrence and Dulcie Ferguson Long. Both parents are deceased. On January 17, 1952 she married James A. Courtney, who survives.
Mrs. Courtney was a retired distribution manager with Brunner News Agency and a bookkeeper with ATCO Sales. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge 370 of Lima and the Good Sam Club. Every year they loved going to Canada where she enjoyed fishing and camping. She also loved to sing and paint and cherished spending time with her family.
Survivors include 1 daughter – Barbara Ann (Charles William) Good of Venedocia; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild – Sean (Jodi) Poling and their children Annie and Ali; Brendan (Jennifer) Poling and their children Nicholas, Nathan, Noah, and Nevin; Heather Ann (Kevin) Mathews and their child – Zach; Ian (Leah) Good and their children – Tabitha, Charlie, and Ingrid; Colin Good, Meaghan E. Good, Dejah Rae (James) Rowland and their children – Sara (Josh)- their child Luke; Courtney, Michaela; Nicole Suzanne (Darren) Smith and their children – Ashley, Josh and Jacob; Onda (Aaron) Reinhart and their children – Josh (Kristen), Justin, and Jacob; a son-in-law – Paul Metzger of Lima.
She was preceded in death by a daughter – Nancy Susan Metzger who died July 8, 2010; grandson Brian Poling; 3 brothers – Elmer Long, John Richard Long, and James Long.
Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2010 in Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Rev. Wendy Pratt will officiate. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Mary’s.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to The American Diabetes Association.
In honor of red being Mrs. Courtney’s favorite color the family is requesting red be worn.
