Arletha Mae ‘Lee’ McConnell, age 93 of Indian Lake and formerly of Lima made a joyous reunion with her husband at 11:55 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2018. She was born October 26, 1925 in Lima to the late Odos and Genevieve Oen Fox. In 1946 she married her best friend, Ira Clayton McConnell, who preceded her in death January 1, 2012.
Mrs. McConnell had worked for the Gregg’s Department Store, downtown Lima and later was able to stay at home and nurture her family. She was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church in Lima, was very active working with the church, was a member of the alter rosary society, and attended the St. Mary’s of the Woods Church in Indian Lake. Her memberships included the Lima Women’s Bowling Association and the U.S.B.C. where she was a lifemember and held various offices. She was also a life member of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #54 of Lima.
She enjoyed bowling, golf, and never knew a stranger. Family was the world to Lee and she treasured and loved them dearly.
She is survived by a daughter – Cathy Jo (Kevin) Grumblis of Lakeview, OH; 3 grandchildren – Renee (Justin) Grumblis Kelly; Kristin (Ryan) Armakovitch; and Stephanie (financee’ Nick) Grumblis; 5 great grandchildren; 2 nephews – Mike (Barb) McConnell of Medina, OH; Harold ‘Butch’ (Carole) McConnell of Lima; 5 nieces – Cindy (Al) Tribby of Youngstown; Jeannie McConnell Boyed of Delphos; Linda (Wade) O’Brien of Port Clinton; Frost (Marla) Yarnell; Marrieta (Charles) McPheron of Lima; Nancy Martinovici; and a very special cousin, whom she considered a brother – Bill (Dorothy) MacRae of Florida.
She was preceded in death by a sister and her husband – Betty June (William Albert) McConnell and a niece – Wava McConnell Williams.
Mass of Christian burial will begin 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Lima. Father David Ross will officiate. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 3, 2018 and 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita’s Hospice or St. John’s Catholic Church.
