Azuba B. Meffley, age 87,of Lima died 12:30 a.m., Sunday, February 3, 2013 at St. Rita’s Medical Center. She was born Aug. 13, 1925 in Lima City Hospital to Smiles C. and Azuba Blogett Wolfe who preceded her in death. On January 6, 1946 she married Gordon (Bud) L. Meffley who died Dec. 17, 1980.
Mrs. Meffley was a member of Shawnee Community United Methodist Church and had been a 4-H advisor and was the former director and teacher at Shawnee Weekday Nursery School.
She is survives by a son Philip G. (Cyndy) Meffley of Livonia, Michigan and 3 daughters: Susan (Stephen) Frank of Sallis, Mississippi, Rebecca (Jack) Warecki of Campbell,
California and Sarah (William) Finnegan of Marion, Ohio; 6 grandchildren: Andrew (Andrea) Frank, Benjamin (Amanda) Frank, Alana Finnegan, Rachael Warecki, Brandt Warecki and John Finnegan; 5 great grandchildren: Nicholas, Blaine, Noah, Cole and Madeline Frank. Also survived by 2 brothers: Smilie C. Wolfe of Wapakoneta and Freidan (Marge) Wolfe of Columbus, OH; 6 sisters: Ellen (Francis) Lowry of Cridersville, Susie (Norman) Redick of Lima, Harriet Neu of Columbus Grove, Gretchen (Noel) Ritchie of Wapakoneta, Nancy Beemer of Cridersville and Martha Logan of St. Mary’s and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will begin 1:00 p.m., Thursday Feb. 7 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home Cridersville with Rev. Charlotte Hefner officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery near Cridersville.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Angels for Animals, the Ronald McDonald House or St. Rita’s Hospice.
