Barbara A. Nixon

Barbara A. Nixon age 88, of Cridersville passed away 11:30 p.m., Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Otterbein-Cridersville.

She was born Feb. 26, 1935 to Pearl O. and Grace A. (Turner) Hefner.  She married John R. Nixon January 8, 1956 and he preceded her in death Dec. 17, 2011.

She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1954 and she was a member of Waynesfield United Methodist Church.  Barbara worked alongside her husband on the family farm.  She taught quilting classes for several years.  Barb cherished spending time with her family and her grandchildren and great granddaughter, they were the light of her life.

Survivors include a son Mark A. (Merry) Nixon of Wapak and a daughter Jolene A. (Mark) Waitman of Waynesfield; 2 grandsons Kyle A. (Michala) Waitman and Brock D. Waitman; a great granddaughter Madalyn and a sister Ruth I. Baker of Wapak.

The family will receive friends 10 to 1 Thursday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.  The funeral will follow at 1 with Pastor Todd Tenaglia officiating and burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery near Uniopolis.

Memorial contributions may be given to Waynesfield United Methodist Church or Waynesfield Baptist Church.
