Belva M. Mowery, age 94 of Cridersville, surrounded by her family, went home to be with the Lord at 10:55 a.m., Monday, October 15, 2012 at Burton Ridge, Lima. She was born July 25, 1918 in Monroe County, Ohio.
She is the daughter of the late Edward W. and Mary M. Ruble Crawford. On February 27, 1941 in Lancaster, Ohio she married James Woodrow Mowery who died March 4, 2002.
Mrs. Mowery was a homemaker and attended the Ohio School for the Deaf. She was a member of the Good Shepherd of the Deaf Lutheran Church in Toledo and studied the Bible and attended church in Findlay. Some of the things she enjoyed were crocheting, playing BINGO, baking bread for her family, and going to the Avery at Burton’s Ridge to watch the birds.
She is survived by a daughter – Lena M. (Duanne) Reed of Lima; 2 grandchildren – Brenda (Greg) Gerdeman; Angie (Jan) Zuber; 6 great grandchildren – Brandon (Kristi) Gerdeman, Zachary Gerdeman, Paige Gerdeman, Taylor Gerdeman, Austin Zuber, and Alicia Zuber; a brother – Irvin A. (Opal) Crawford of Barnesville, OH; a sister – Hilda Julia Crawford of Lima; two sister-in-laws Mildred Crawford of Lima and Nida Doudt of McComb; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother – Fred W. Crawford who died July 6, 2011 and a sister-in-law – Opal Crawford.
Services will begin at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Pastor Shirrel Petzoldt will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00– 1:30 Thursday at the funeral home.
