Billy Ray Cummings, age 77 of Harrod, died at 12:01 a.m., October 1, 2017 at his residence. He was born November 24, 1939 in Sassafras, KY to the late John and Meriam Smith Cummings. On December 22, 1973 he married Syble Pack who survives in Harrod.

Mr. Cummings retired from the “cleaning crew” at Ford Motor Company and was a member of the Lima Missionary Baptist Church. He loved the outside, mowing, and chewing. His hobbies included going to garage sales, ‘junking’, gardening, watching NASCAR, horse racing, and the Kentucky basketball games. He will be remembered for his smile and his great sense of humor.

He is also survived by 3 daughters – Angelia Rhea Cummings of Summerville, GA; Kimberlie Jean Cummings of Lima; Hope (Mark) Sleight of Harrod; a step daughter – Teresa (Chris) Williams of Swansboro, NC; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers – Buell ‘Buddy’ Cummings of Soddy Daisy, TN; Claude Cummings of Chattanooga, TN; 3 sisters – Polly ‘Demp’ Mullins of London, KY; Charlotte Hensley of Lexington, KY; and Wilma Snyder of Soddy Daisy, TN.

He was preceded in death by 2 step daughters – Wanda Murino; Brenda Isenbarger; a great grandchild; a brother – Kyle Cummings; 2 sisters Della Pittman, and Linda Howard.

Funeral services will begin 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Lima Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Terry Brock will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Westminster Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 2, at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
