Carlos “Charlie” Sanchez, age 82 of Colorado Springs, CO and formerly of Lima died Sunday, June 3, 2012at his home in Colorado Springs, CO. He was born September 17, 1929 in Elgin, Texas. The son of the late Antonio and Gladys Sanchez.
Charlie was a U.S. Army Corp veteran in the 101st airborne “Screaming Eagles” Paratroopers Division 1948 – 1952. He had worked many years with the Lima News in the maintenance department. He was hard working, loved fishing and football and never met a stranger. He will be rembered most for his appreciation of life which he lived to the fullest.
Mr. Sanchez is survived by 3 sons- Mike, Steve and Mark Sanchez, 6 daughters- Kelly, Michelle, Shannon, Heather, Cindy, and Sheila; 16 grandchildren: Christopher, Matthew, Mark II, Brianna, Tiffany, Crystal, Charles III, Tony, Amber, Brittany, Terry II, Ashley, Ernie, Anthony, Cory and Sadie; 3 brothers: Barney, Jesse and Rudy Sanchez, a sister Maria, 6 nephews: Jeff, Greg, Tim, Carlos, Rick, and Caleb; 7 nieces: Kim, Carla, Debbie, Angela, Debra, Gina and Diana.
He was preceded in death by a son-Kenneth, his late ex-wife Donna, a brother Joseph and a sister Virginia and 2 nephews Anthony and William ‘Billy’
Funeral services will begin 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The Father James Szabonya will officiate. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2:00p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
