Carole Dee Rumbaugh Connor, age 83 of Lafayette, went to be with the Lord at 2:53 p.m., Sunday, June 26, 2022 at her home. She was born September 4, 1938 in Lima, Ohio to the late Milo and Helen Bowsher Rumbaugh. On November 5, 1960 she married Patrick J. Connor, who survives.
Mrs. Connor graduated in 1956 from Shawnee High School. After graduation, she went to work as a secretary with Superior Coach, and then went on to work at Ford Motor Company, then with the Allen County Fair Grounds. She also worked with the Jackson Township Election Board for several years, enjoyed bowling with the ladies on Tuesday afternoon and singing in the Sweet Adelines. She was a member of the Lafayette Congregational Christian Church and loved serving the church. With the church she was a song leader, held several clerical positions, was the Prayer Chain coordinator, active in the women’s fellowship, and was on the state board. One of her other passions was being active with the Right to Life organization.
Also surviving are 4 children – Kelly A. (Tim) Spallinger of Lafayette; Kathleen D. (David) Whitaker of Wapakoneta; Kevin P. (Michelle) Connor of Lima; and Krista A. (Chad) Valenti of Waynesfield; blessed with 13 grandchildren – Kory (Cheri) Hubbell; Dillon (Brie) Hubbell; Eli Spallinger; Ian Spallinger; Hailey Whitaker; Jenna (Spencer) Wolf; Connor Whitaker; Kennedy Connor; Addison Connor; Prestley Connor; Blake Valenti; Claire Valenti; Cassidy Valenti; 4 great grandchildren – Lily, Khloe’, Kace, and Finley; a brother-in-law – Rick Dick of FL; her in-laws on the Connor side – Diane Connor of Lima; Sharon and Jack Wickham of Jenera, Ohio; Laura Smith of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by 2 sisters – Serelda Sue Welker and Diane Dick; in-laws on the Connor side – Dick Connor; Colleen and Howard Schick; Jim and Marcia Vermillion; Larry Smith.
Funeral services will begin 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2022 at Lafayette Congregational Christian Church. Rev. Charles Moeller will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Friday at Lafayette Congregational Christian Church.
