Carolyn V. Newman, age 69 of Lima, died October 31, 2009 in her residence. She was born August 5, 1940 in Atlanta, Georgia. She is the daughter of James Raymond, Sr. and Ida Louise Roden Blackstock. Both parents are deceased. On July 23, 1956 she married John D. Newman, Sr. who survives. They were married 53 years.
She attended Stockbridge High School in Stockbridge, Georgia. She was a homemaker. She and her husband enjoyed traveling in their RV. She cherished spending time with her family, which was the center of her life. She had a high appreciation for history, was an avid reader and enjoyed crafts.
Survivors include children – John D. (Barb) Newman, Jr. of Lima; Sherie (Andrew) Fairchild of Quincy; Joseph D. (Becky) Newman of Lima; Theresa (Kenny) Mauk of Spencerville; Lynn Baker of Rockford; Pamela (Matt) Harris of Wapakoneta; Daniel (Jennifer) Newman of Wapakoneta; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 3 brothers – Johnny Newell of Georgia; Donald Blackstock of Florida; James Lee Blackstock of Florida; 3 sisters – Sharon Lonon of Florida; Karen Blackstock of Kansas; and Linda Skinkle of Georgia.
She was preceded in death by a son Larry Dale Newman; a brother Raymond Blackstock; a son-in-law Brian D. Baker; and a grandson Adam N.
Memorial services will begin 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2009 in Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Her brother, Pastor Johnny Newell will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, the Disabled American Veterans, or the Humane Society.
