Catherine Sylvia ‘Kitty’ Hensley, age 91, of Lima died Jun. 30, 2015, at her son’s residence. She was born Sept. 13, 1923 in Winona Lake, IN to Frederick Saxton & Clara Alvina Babetha Ammann Maxwell. She was raised near Wilmot, SD. On Oct. 25, 1947 she married Ronald H. ‘Bud’ Hensley, who preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 2010.
Grandma Kitty was a homemaker after working as a radio inspector for the US Army Signal Corps during World War II which brought her to the Lima area. She was an avid follower of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds. She was a member of the Westminster United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four sons: Alan (Kimberly) Hensley of Lakewood Ranch, FL; Darrell (Jenelle) Hensley of Lafayette; Charles (Carolyn) Hensley of Lima; and James (Tameria) Hensley of Cumming, GA. 9 grandchildren: Allison, Tony (Kristi), Ann (Kevin), Patrick (Christina), Timothy, Patrick, Alexandria, Kelsey, and Taylor, 9 great-grandchildren: Adriane, Aundrea, Hunter, Trey, Hale, Ronan, Elizabeth, Ava, and Jacob, and brother Fred (Erma) Maxwell, of Wilmot, SD, along with his family.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Jeffrey Lynn Hensley.
A memorial service will begin at 11am Friday, July 10 at Westminster United Methodist Church. Pastor David Burkhart will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church beginning 2 hours prior to the start of the service. Private burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetary.
