Cecile Rosetta Giel, age 95 of Cridersville, died at 9:28 a.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Otterbein-Cridersville, surrounded by her family. She was born March 23, 1920 in St. Johns, Ohio; to the late Elias and Clella Beech Gross. On January 16, 1971 she married Edward F. Giel, who died September 26, 1997.
Mrs. Giel had worked at Lima Memorial Hospital and several area dry cleaners. She was a member of the M. M. Club, the Waynesfield Senior Citizens, the Red Hat Society; she volunteered at Otterbein-Cridersville and attended St. John’s Catholic Church in Lima. Her passions included going on trips with Otterbein, playing BINGO, country music and she loved her family dearly.
Survivors include 2 sons – Wayne (Jane) Hites of Lima; Jack (Kathy) Hites of Lima; a daughter – Nora Hurst of Ft. Wayne, IN; 11 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; a sister – Rowena Carter of Lima.
She was preceded in death by a brother – Philip Gross and a sister – Roberta McMillen.
Funeral services will begin noon, Saturday, January 2, 2015 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Father Patrick Sloneker will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, near Uniopolis.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made Otterbein-Cridersville.
