Charles Corwin Mayer age 86, of Lima passed away Nov. 14, 2019 following an auto accident. He was born May 17, 1933 to the late Charles Russell and Marcella Bowsher Mayer. He married Dixie Lee Brandyberry June 15, 1958 and she preceded him in death Oct. 21, 2007.
Charlie graduated from Shawnee High School and had been a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. He had retired from Milcor where he had been an operations supervisor. Charlie also loved farming and was active in the Shawnee fields for over 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Lima and had served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a Lima land history buff, loved old cars, auctions, fixing old lawn mowers, building things and talking about world affairs.
Survivors include children: Russ Mayer of Lima, Kelli Mayer of Lima, Becky (Matt) Andros of Chandler, AZ, Nick Mayer of Lima and a sister Marlene Howell of Wapakoneta.
He was preceded in death by siblings: Royce Mayer, Norman Mayer and Kathleen Howell.
The family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20th at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor John Maynard officiating. Private burial will be Friday in St. Matthew Cemetery.
