Charles E. Sneary, age 76 of Lima, passed peacefully at 7:09 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born April 1, 1947 in Lima, Ohio to the late Charles Henry and Sarah Demetria Bruce Sneary.  On July 9, 1966 he married Linda P. Gladwell and they celebrated 56 years together.

Charles retired as a crane operator with Whemco.  He served in the U. S. Army during Vietnam, received the Bronze Star, and was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1275 of Lima. He loved building water fountains, tending to his climbing rose bushes, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his unselfishness, helping others, and his devotion to family.

Also surviving are 2 daughters – Tessie M. (Robert) Layton of Lima; Sarah E. Downard of NC; 4 grandchildren – Justin, Amanda, Josh, Melody; 5 great grandchildren – Jaydin, Jaxin, Clair, Zahir, Anastasia; 4 brothers – Jim (Connie) Sneary of Columbus; Phil Sneary of Lima; David (Sandy) Sneary of Delphos; Bob (Stephanie) Sneary of New Carlisle; 2 sisters – Pam Conkle of Lima, and Frannie (Mark) Ellerbrock of Tipp City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister – Susan Sneary.

Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Pastor John Yohe will officiate. Burial will follow in Bluelick Cemetery, Bath Township. Military rites will be observed.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2023 and from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
