Charles Leo Mitchell, age 91 of Wapakoneta, died at 7:10 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013 in Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home. He was born May 24, 1921 in Buckland, Ohio; the son of the late Charles Martin and Lela Vivian Meeker Mitchell. On June 14, 1947 he married Mary Maxine Lee, who survives in Wapakoneta.
After working 19 years at the Lima Tank Depot he went on to work with Shross Construction and Campnell Construction. He was a U. S. Army Veteran during World War II. He was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church of Lima; the V.F.W. Post 1275 of Lima; and the American Legion 191 of Spencerville.
Survivors include a son – Ronald Dean and his wife -Margaret C. ‘Peggy’ Mitchell of Wapakoneta; 1 grandson – Jeremy Leo and his wife Jamie Mitchell; 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers – Orval Eldon Mitchell of CA; Norman Roy Mitchell of Michigan; a sister – Ada Pauline Jackson of Lima; and a daughter-in-law – Tina Mitchell of Wapakoneta.
He was preceded in death by a son – Larry Wayne Mitchell; 3 sisters – Vera Leota Piko, Olive Pauline Hiner, and Betty June Hall.
Funeral services will begin 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Rev. Eric Allen and Barry Hall will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Buckland Cemetery. Military rites will be observed by V.F.W. Post 1275 of Lima.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
