Clarence Wesley “Wes” Myers, age 86 of Cridersville, died at 4:43 a.m., Thursday, February 3, 2011 in Lima Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. He was born December 4, 1924 in Allen County, Ohio. The son of Clarence Wesley and Anna Margaret Laeufer Myers, Sr. Both parents are deceased. On September 1, 1945 he married Vera L. Stemen, who survives.
Mr. Myers was co-owner of Myers Hardware in Celina and Cridersville. He was Fire Chief from 1963 – 1967 in Cridersville and a U.S. Navy WWII Veteran. He was a graduate of Lima South High School, Class of 1942.
He is also survived by a son – Michael Dean (Jane) Myers of Redand, CA; a daughter – Marilyn Jean (Dale) Strouse of Cottage Grove, WI; 6 grandchildren – Neil (Debbie) Strouse, Kevin Strouse, Ashley Myers, Justin Myers, Shaun (Misty) Strouse, and Andrew Myers; 2 great grandchildren – Brooklyn Strouse and Trinity Strouse; a brother – Ned E. (Janice) Myers of Cridersville and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will begin 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 11, 2011 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The Rev. Lynn Huffman will officiate. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Shawnee Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
