Connie M. (Evans) Burgess, age 74, of Wapakoneta and formerly of Lima.
Died peacefully surrounded by her family at 9:22 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2016. She was born Feb. 1, 1942 in Wapakoneta to the late John and Bernida Knoch Evans. She married Ezell Burgess and he preceded her in death in 1984.
Connie had a heart for people in need, whether children in need of school supplies or clothing to those needing a ride. She ran a block watch and even coached baseball for her grandsons and the children in the neighborhood. She was always for the underdog. She had worked for Milanos as a caterer. Connie was a member of the Wapak American Legion and enjoyed shopping and talking to people. Family was her first priority.
Survivors include 4 daughters: Onda (Aaron) Reinhart of Quincy, Bobbie Jo Bruce, Bernida Sanders and Tammy Grounds all of Wapak, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, a brother James Evans and 2 sisters Diane Talbott and Patty Shroyer.
She was preceded in death by a son Jerry Carlyle Evans, a daughter Robin L.L. Sanders, a grandson Donnie Sanders, a sister Janet Sanders, 3 brothers Tom, Jack and Donald Evans and 2 sons-in-law Richard Bruce and Roy Grounds.
The family will receive friends noon to 6 p.m., Thursday July 28 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family.
