Daniel S. Watters, age 70 of Lima, passed at 9:40 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus. He was born November 10, 1952 in Lima, Ohio to the late Albert and Betty Farsht Watters. On June 30, 1973 he married Holly A. Blair, who survives.
Dan retired in 2016, after 40 years with INEOS and had a great working relationship with his co-workers. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, was very involved with the church activities, and participated on St. Matthew Cemetery Board. He was a graduate of Shawnee High School and while in school, managed the football team. He was a past member of the Elks Lodge #54 of Lima. He had a love of sports which included playing golf, like watching baseball games, especially the Reds and Lima Locos, this last season watched more basketball, and he was an avid Buckeye Fan – Go Bucks! Dan was a patient person who liked to joke around. He will be remembered for his hard work ethic, kind demeanor, and being a good example of faith and family.
Also surviving is a son – Adam D. (Jennifer) Watters of Columbus; a daughter – Erin E. (Andy) Gall of Bowling Green; 3 grandchildren – Jordan, Carter, Taylor Watters; a step brother – Jerry (Barb) Ewing of Spokane, WA; a step sister – Lynn (Lowell) Wright of Belle Center; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his step mother – Mary Ewing Watters; 3 step brothers – Jay (Pat) Ewing; Tom (Barb) Ewing; Max Ewing; a step sister – Marjorie Ewing Herring.
Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 3, 2023 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Rev. Samuel Payne will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville and from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Matthew Lutheran Church or the Acute Myeloid Leukemia Foundation.
