David E. ‘Cowboy Dave’ Knotts, age 62, of Lima and formerly of Coconut Creek, FL, died 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at his residence. He was born Sept. 4, 1948 in Lima to Everett Faye and Frances Kathleen Archer Knotts. Both parents are deceased. He married Linda Lee Mayes Jan. 28, 1997 who survives.
Additional survivors include 2 sons: John D. Knotts of Detroit, MI, Michael Knotts of Redford, MI, 2 stepsons: Jason (Cherie) Plaskett of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Robert Mayes of New Albany, IN, 2 stepdaughters: Christine (Tom) Wintle and Robin Mayfield both of Margate, FL; 3 brothers: Charles (Diane) Knotts of Indian Lake, OH, Tim (Renee) Knotts of Elida, OH and Bruce (Marlene Brand) Knotts of Fort Jennings, OH, 2 step brothers: Bob (Barb) Clark of Florida and John (Helen) Clark of Lima, Ohio, 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a half brother: Mike Meyers, a step brother Gary Clark, a nephew Eric Knotts and his stepmother Ruth Clark Knotts.
Mr. Knotts had been a construction general manager and a sales manager of automotive tires. He had served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era and was a graduate of Shawnee High School.
Private family services will be held. No public visiting hours are planned. Military Rites will be provided by V. F. W. Post 8445.
