David J. Ferenczi, age 84 of Lima, passed 12:55 p.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Otterbein-Cridersville Senior Life. He was born May 15, 1937 in Lima, Ohio to the late Steve and Mary Lucas Ferenczi. On December 19, 1970 he married Dorothy B. Peart who passed October 22, 2020.
David enlisted into both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army serving in Germany. He held several college degrees including a BSED and BSBA. He began his working career as a professor at Ohio University and then Bowling Green University. He later taught with the Lima City School System and Bath Schools. David and his wife were members of St. John’s Catholic Church in Lima.
He is survived by a nephew – Edward W. (Marian) Ferenczi, Jr. of Lima; a great niece – Cheryl (Edgar) Deem; 2 great nephews – Jason Ferenczi and Scott Ferenczi.
He was preceded in death by his siblings – Edward W. (Kathryn) Ferenczi; Stephen (Viola) Ferenczi; Rose Ellen Ferenczi, Frank Ferenczi; and Mary Anne Ferenczi; and a nephew – Daniel (Connie) Ferenczi.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2021 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Lima. Father David Ross will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima where military rites will be observed by the V.F.W. Post 1275 of Lima.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Friday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. John’s Catholic Church.
