Deloras J. “Peggy” Gross Copeland, age 86 of Lima, died at 5:30 p.m., Monday, March 14, 2011 in Auglaize Acres Nursing Home, Wapakoneta.
She was born April 20, 1924 in Lima, Ohio. She is the daughter of A. J. and Leona Smith Gross. Both parents are deceased. On January 31, 1944 she married Olen F. Copeland who died July 4, 1988.
She was born at 520 Catalpa Avenue, Lima; she resided there for 84 years, where she was affectionately known as “Miss Peggy.” She later resided at Lima Towers and Elmcroft of Lima.
Mrs. Copeland was a homemaker and a member of the Crossroads First Church of God. She graduated from Lima South High School. During World War II she worked at Lima Locomotives.
Peg & Cope owned and operated a restaurant in the early 1950’s in Uniopolis, later owned and operated Texaco Gas Station on the corner of Metcalf & Elm Streets in Lima.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will begin 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 18, 2011 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The Rev. James C. Couser will officiate. Burial will follow in Buckland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita’s Hospice.
