Diana Wicker Bailey, age 70 of Lima, died at 5:02 p.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Lost Creek Care Center, surrounded by her family after a 13 year battle with breast cancer. She was born October 12, 1943 in Mousie, Kentucky; the daughter of the late Sol and Margarette Smith Wicker.
Mrs. Bailey was a retired License Practical Nurse with Interim Healthcare and formerly worked as a LPN with Otterbein-Cridersville. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Cridersville. After graduating from Perry High School she went to work at Pangles Grocery later being Rays Super Market. While working at Pangles she was a union steward and an executive board member with the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.
She loved people. Diana was a very social and caring person who had great compassion for all people. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, politics, and a sports fan cheering on the Cleveland Browns, before they were sold! Her passion was family, especially her children and grandchildren whom she cherished.
Survivors include children – Denise (Mike) Holler; Deron (Karen) Bailey; and Dave (Angie) Bailey all of Lima; 6 grandchildren – Tricia, Zachary, Jared, Madison, Dakotah, and Cayden; 5 step grandchildren – Shane, Steven, Shelly, Scott, Shawn; 2 step great grandchildren; 3 sisters – Loretta Bellman of Cridersville; Linda Wicker of Kentucky, and Janice McKinney of Lima; a former husband Jim F. Bailey of Lima; and her beloved dog Pepi.
She was preceded in death by a grandson – Dentin Bailey; brothers – Alec and Delmas ‘Bud’ Wicker and her companion Dick Morrison.
Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 15, 2013 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville; Evangelist John Barcus officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, north of Uniopolis.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
