Diane L. Schulz age 70, of Cridersville passed away 9:25 a.m., Saturday December 3, 2016 at her residence after battleing 3 kinds of cancer for 2 years. She was born March 8, 1946 in Lima, Ohio to the late Gilbert Wesley Mertz and Mary Jane Eversole Mertz. She married John Albert Schulz April 25, 1965 and he survives in Cridersville.
Diane graduated from Cridersville High School and had worked as a tax professional for H & R Block and had worked several years at Westinghouse. She was a former: President of Pablum to Pizza OCCL, President of Cridersville Fire Dept. Ladies Aux., Worthy High Priestess of Lima Shrine #20 White Shrine of Jerusalem, Worthy Matron of Grove Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Mighty Chosen One of El Karen Caldron, Royal Matron of St. Mary’s Court Order of Amaranth, Grand Faith of Grand Court of Ohio Order of Amaranth, Grand Standard Bearer of Grand Court of Ohio Order of Amaranth and member of Cridersville Police Department Auxiliary and Cridersville Police Officer. Member of True Kindred of Toledo and a member of Loyal Order of Moose Ladies Auxiliary of Indian Lake and St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
Additional survivors include a son: John Paul “JP” (Laura) Schulz of Huntsville, Margaret Christine (Dennis) Mills of Lakeview, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, a brother Ronald (Elaine) Mertz of Cridersville and 2 sisters Susie (Tom) Huelskamp of Wapak and Sharon Purdy of Spencerville; mother-in-law Irene Schulz of Lima, a brother-in-law Danny (Pam) Schulz and several nieces and nephews.
Diane was preceded in death by an infant sister Peggy Mertz and a brother-in-law Lee Purdy.
A brief funeral service will be held 1:30 Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville with Pastor Sharon Stonerock officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Cemetery near Cridersville
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 Monday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville and noon until the time of services Tuesday. A White Shrine service will be at 8:00 p.m., Monday following the visitation.
Memorial contribution may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
