Donald D. Farrar, age 89 of Lima, died 5:43 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Lima Memorial Health Care System. He was born February 12, 1928 in Akron, Ohio; the son of late Jack and Cora Farrar. On July 15, 1968 he married Irene Weaver, who survives in Lima.
Mr. Farrar, a loving father, husband, and grandfather retired from Norfolk and Western Railroad and had also worked at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading Westerns and watching Western movies, especially with John Wayne.
Also surviving are 3 sons – Donald (Cynthia) Farrar of Delphos, David Farrar of Texas; Daniel Farrar of Bucyrus; 4 daughters – Connie (John) Dodge of Lima; Carol Farrar of Cambridge, Ohio; Jenny Sanchez of Lima; Denise Farrar of Wapakoneta; 18 grandchildren; a sister – Pat Wheeler of Lima.
He was preceded in death by a infant brother
Services will begin at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima. Military rites will be observed by V.F.W. Post 1275 of Lima at the cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
