Donald J. Neal, age 77 of Wapakoneta, died at 4:50 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at his residence. He was born February 10, 1933 in Dunkirk, Ohio. He is the son of Leroy John and Violet Marie Benjamin Neal. Both parents are deceased. On May 19, 1950 he married Betty Jean Blevins who died July 1, 2005.
Mr. Neal was a retired machinist with Excello/Textron. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 330 of Wapakoneta and enjoyed fishing, traveling, bowling and going to auctions.
Survivors include 1 son – Donald R. (Theresa J.) Neal of Waynesfield; 1 daughter Ella M. (Timothy) Ritchie of South Daytona, Florida; 3 grandchildren – Aaron Ritchie, John Neal, and Sarah Neal; 1 great grandchild – Alexandra Neal; 4 brothers – Leroy (Carol) Neal, Jr. of Lima; Bill (Carol) Neal of Florida; Larry (Judy) Neal of Lima; Edward (Cassey) Neal of St. Cloud, Florida; and 1 sister – Nancy Dick of Lima.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers – Dean Neal, Bob Neal; and 1 sister – Marilyn Nichols.
Funeral services will begin 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 25, 2010 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The Rev. Don Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. Military Rites will be observed by V.F.W. Post 8445 of Wapakoneta.
The family will receive friends may call from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
