Donald L. McKinley, 74, of Cridersville, died 6:15 p.m., Sat. Jan. 1 at Baton Rouge Rehab Center. He was born March 1, 1936 in Union City, Ohio to Ralph and Leona McKinley, who preceded him in death. On Nov. 6th, 1964, at New Haven, IN, he married Patricia R. Davidson Gross who survives.
Mr. McKinley was the Personnel Manager for the Dominion Gas Company (formerly West Ohio Gas Company)) and retired in 1991 after 33 years. Until his illness he was an active member of the Cridersville United Methodist Church. He was a volunteer with the Lima United Way for more than 25 years where he served in several capacities. He was a member of the Allocations Committee for nine years eventually serving as vice-chairman and in 1982 83 as chairman. He was a member of the United Way board for eight years becoming its chairman in 1989 -90. He was an army veteran serving in Panama, and was a lifetime member of the Elks and Lions Club. He liked to fish, hunt and play golf, but his real passion was his family.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Debbie (Mark) Henley of Illinois, Tedi (Dennis) Bloom of Michigan, a step daughter, Kelle (Tom) Coy of Indiana; a sister: Ann Curtin of Forest, OH a niece Kathy Jo (David) Lotz of Kenton, 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday at Bayliff and Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Jerry Wiles will officiate. Burial will follow is St. Matthew Cemetery near Cridersville.
