Donald R. Hinkle, Sr., age 71 of Lima, died at 11:10 p.m., Thursday, November 11, 2010 in Triumph Care Facility, Lima. He was born January 12, 1939 in Cridersville, Ohio. The son of Andrew Frank and Merlie Valeria Thompson Hinkle. Both parents are deceased. On August 18, 1960 he married Karen R. McClintock, who survives.
Mr. Hinkle was a retired machinist with Warner Swasey, Monarch Machine, Stamco. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. He had been an Auglaize County Auxiliary Deputy for 11 ½ years, and on the Cridersville Volunteer Fire Department for 11 ½ years. He enjoyed NASCAR, camping, and fishing.
Survivors include 1 son – Donald R. (Nancy) Hinkle, Jr. of Lima; 1 daughter – Ellen (Ronald) Wolff of Lafayette; 3 grandchildren – Jennifer (Bill) Wapplehorst, Dustin Hinkle, and Darren Hinkle; 2 sisters – Velma Mayer Geyer of Lima; and Agnes Golden of Cridersville.
He was preceded in death by a brother – Clyde Hinkle and 2 sisters – Ruby Watterson DeLong and Beulah Putt.
Funeral services will begin 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, near Cridersville. The Rev. James C. Couser will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
Memorial contributions may be given to the donor’s favorite charity.
