Donald Richard Plemmons, age 49, of Waynesfield, Ohio, formerly of Fort Wayne, Indiana, died Monday, December 14, 2009 in Lima, Ohio due to complications from diabetes. Donald was born on August 2, 1960 in Garden City, Michigan to Rev. Ernest and Evelyn (Welch)Plemmons, Sr. Donald is survived by his former wife Jeannette Lyons Plemmons of Fort Wayne, Indiana, his children Don (fiancée Katelyn Decker) Plemmons, Jr. of Lyndhurst, New Jersey, Ashley Lynne Plemmons and Holly Nicole (fiancée Justin Smith) Plemmons of Fort Wayne, Indiana, two sisters, Cheryl Watters of Adrian, Michigan, Kathie Manns of Wapakoneta, Ohio, two brothers, Rev. Ernest Plemmons, Jr. of Thomasville, North Carolina, and Rev. Dan (Leah) Plemmons of Rochester Hills, Michigan, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard & Emma Plemmons and Alex & Mattie Welch, and his brother-in-law, Steven Watters.
Donald graduated from Belleville High School, Michigan in 1978 and had been employed at Essex and Wal-Mart until his disability due to severe diabetes. Donald attended the Voice of Victory Bible Methodist Church in Waynesfield until the time of his death. While living in Fort Wayne he attended the Fort Wayne Pilgrim Holiness Church.
Donald enjoyed woodworking, working on cars, spending time with his family, and playing the piano. He played the bass guitar at his local church and was an avid Colts fan. Donald will be missed by all who came in contact with him.
Services will be officiated by Rev. Glen Dotson of Gas City, Indiana at the Voice of Victory Bible Methodist Church at the corner of Buckland-Holden Road and Graham Road in Waynesfield at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2009. Visitation will be at the Voice of Victory Bible Methodist Church from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 2009. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations will go to aid the family with the funeral expenses. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta, Ohio.
