Ed A. Baker age 89, of Wapakoneta passed away 9:44 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2023 at Joint Township Memorial Hospital. He was born March 14, 1934 in Waynesfield to the late Ed and Pauline (Craft) Baker.
He married Mary Ann Veit on August 18, 1956, and she preceded him in death.
Before retiring, Ed was the owner of Baker’s Painting and Decorating, where he had painted for many residents and businesses throughout the Wapakoneta and Lima area. Ed was an avid sports fan. He especially liked watching the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Cavaliers, and listening to the Wapak Redskins football games on the radio every Friday night. Always quick with a smile and a joke, Ed knew no stranger. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include two daughters: Tracy (Darren) Niemeyer of Wapakoneta, and Amy (Keith) Thomas of Sidney; grandchildren: Chad (Alexa) Niemeyer and Alison Niemeyer of Wapakoneta, Amanda Thomas of Raleigh, NC and Reid Thomas of Sidney; three great grandchildren: Rory, Gabe, and Quinnly; sister-in-law, Dottie Baker, of Lima, brother-in-law, Dick Veit of Destin FL, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings: Helen Jo (Jim) Rowen and Tom Baker.
