Eileen Marie Gierhart, age 91 of Green Springs, Ohio and formerly of Lima and Bradenton, Florida, died at 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2011, in Elmwood Health Center, Green Springs, Ohio. She was born February 21, 1920 in Defiance, Ohio. She is the daughter of John and Helen Pocock Diringer. Both parents are deceased. On June 29, 1942 she married Ralph Edward Gierhart, who died October 13, 2006.
Survivors include 3 sons – Ronald Edward (Karen) Gierhart of Fremont, Ohio; Timothy Lynn (Valerie) Gierhart of Oswego, IL; David Arthur (Mary) Gierhart of Clyde, Ohio; a daughter – Janice Marie (Roy) Davisson of Fremont; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a sister – Charlotte G. Crites of Bradenton, Florida.
She was preceded in death by a brother – John Joseph Diringer, Jr.
Mrs. Gierhart was a homemaker, seamstress, and a beautician. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Fremont, Ohio. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Fremont Chapter No. 133, initiated October 22, 1964. She was confirmed at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lima, Ohio on April 9, 1933, by Pastor L. E. Albrecht. She was also a licensed cosmetologist.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 29, 2011 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 30, 2011 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Rev. James C. Couser will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
