Eleanor C Cheeseman, 94, of Wapakoneta died 5:40 AM Thursday, May 29, 2014 at
Auglaize Acres. She was born March 23, 1920 to Robert and Sarah Rix in Yale, Michigan, who preceded her in death. Eleanor was a homemaker, farmer’s wife, and mother of 4 children. She married Blake Cheeseman on Jan. 10, 1942, who preceded her in death by 11 years. They were happily married for 61 years.
Survivors include one son James (Mindy) Cheeseman of Texas; three daughters; Charlotte (Bob) Hart of Michigan; Evelyn Cheeseman of Illinois; Cindy (Jim) Fast of Wapakoneta; 2 step grand children: Jason (Heidi) Fast and Jennifer (PJ) Schaub; 6 other grand children: Ginger Cheeseman; Karen( Colin) Collette; Sarah (Jason )Hanson; Brian (Amber) Riecks; Sam (Sarah) Garland; Seth (Renae) Garland, 14 great grandchildren: Taylor Cheeseman, Katie, Joshua, Micah, David, Faith, Noah, Malachi & Charity Garland; Izaiah, Indy, Iain Hanson; Gabrielle and Griffin Collette; 2 step great grandchildren: Annaleea and Andrea Schaub.
Eleanor moved from Michigan with her husband Blake to Wapakoneta in 2002. They
enjoyed once again being out in the country. Upon Blake’s death in 2003, Eleanor
continued to live here until she moved into Auglaize Acres in 2010 upon her 90th
birthday. Eleanor was always active in church wherever she lived. In Michigan, she
worked in the nursery and called her SS class on their birthdays and anniversaries.
She also sewed bags for the children. In Ohio, she sang in the choir and rarely missed
a service at Cornerstone Baptist Church of Elida. The last few years, she attended
Plum Street Bible Church in Wapakoneta. She was loved by many for her sweet spirit.
The family will receive friends at Bayliff & Son, Cridersville 3-8 p.m. June 10
and the funeral will be 10:30 a.m. June 11th at Bayliff & Son. Memorials may be given to the Plum Street Bible Church Mortgage Fund.
