Elinor Mae Lammers age 91 of Lima, died at 1:55 p.m., Monday, September 17, 2012 at Wyngate Senior Center surrounded by her family. She was born June 18th 1921 to Paul and Dorothy Glick in Lima.
She graduated from Lima Central and Frederick’s Beauty Academy at the top of her class.
During the war she worked at the Lima Ordinance Depot where she met the love of her life, Harold ‘Butch’ Lammers, her husband of 69 years, who survives.
She had a daycare in her home having cared for 35 children over the years. She was a Girl Scout leader, president of P.T.A. and Mother Study Club. She taught Sunday school at Epworth Methodist Church where she was a member for her entire life. She was a master seamstress and in 1954 had won the “Best Neighbor” award in Lima.
She was a helpmate to Butch where they volunteered for 20 years at Lima Memorial Health Care System, where she contributed 12, 000 hours. She was fond of the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds.
She instilled the importance of family, integrity, honesty, character and helping others to her daughter Judi (Doug) Harris and grandchildren; Missy (Tom) Schroeder and Craig (Yumiko) Harris; great granddaughter Erika Harris.
She was preceded in death by two brothers – Roger Glick and Harold Glick.
She adored her grandchildren and was a pillar of strength to everyone.
Funeral services will begin 12:30 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the Family of Faith Church, Lima. The Rev. Jim Loescher will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum at 3:00 p.m., Thursday.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 12:30 at the church.
We want to thank the great staff at Wyngate for loving and caring for Mom in her home away from home these last three years.
