Ernest J. Boyer age 78, of Lima passed away 12:15 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 2 at Bridge Hospice in Findlay. He was born Nov. 22, 1939 in Wapakoneta to the late Clifford W. and Letha E. Delawder Boyer. On July 21, 1962 he married Martha Immele who survives in Cridersville.
Ernie graduated from Wapak St. Joe School and went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from The J.M. Sealts Co. He was a member of Lima Community Church. As an artist, he loved to paint on canvas and play on his electric keyboard. He was an avid sports fan especially for the Reds and Ohio State. He loved to fish and bowl. He will be remembered for his practical jokes and his sense of humor.
Survivors include sons: Bryan Boyer of Urbana and Clifford (Kathy) Boyer of Lima, a daughter Traci (Jim) Honegger of Cridersville, grandchildren: Brittany (Kenny) Owens, Wesley Symonds, Eric (Kara) Layman, Ryan Boyer, Rachel Boyer, Emma Fruchey and Braxton Fruchey; 3 great grandchildren, brother: Michael (Marianne) Boyer of Columbus and sisters: Nancy L. Dardio of Wapakoneta and Mary (Bob) Lopshire of Lima.
He was preceded in death by a brother James R. Boyer and his beloved dog Dutchess.
The family will receive friends 4 p.m.- 7 p.m. Thursday, August 9th at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Doug Boquist officiating. Private burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Moulton.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Ohio SPCA (Animal Shelter) of Allen County.
