Etta Mae Gross, age 89 of rural Wapakoneta, passed at 9:10 a.m., Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Wapakoneta Manor. She was born November 27, 1929 in Hardin County, Ohio to the late Walter Emmit and Alfa Marie Byers McMillen. On December 7, 1945 she married Philip E. Gross who passed on December 15, 2001.
Mrs. Gross was a homemaker. As a child she loved horses and riding them and through her life enjoyed her ‘pups’. She liked John Wayne, country music and had a good time with her Woman’s Club getting together once a month. She loved cooking and baking. Bust most of all, she loved her family and spending time with them. Great memories were made over family dinners that included her fried chicken and her famous gravy.
Surviving are 2 sons – Edward Lee (Joy) Gross of Wapakoneta; Robert Gross of Wapakoneta; 9 grandchildren – Brad Gross, Larry (Shelly) Gross, Mindy (Rod) Ritchie, Darrel Gross, James (Amanda) Gross, April Gross, Jodie (Craig) Hopkins, Stacy Earl, Edward Gross, Jr.; 24 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law – William (Linda) Gross; 2 grandsons – Elias David Gross and John Thomas Earl; a daughter-in-law – Judy Gross; 2 brothers – Richard McMillen and Charles McMillen.
Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
