Evelyn L. Shaw, age 82 of Lima, died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at her residence. She was born August 9, 1930 in Delphos, Ohio; the daughter of the late Robert Van and Naomi Mamie Stettler Furry. On September 2, 1951 she married Bill F. Shaw who died January 22, 1996.
After graduating in 1949 from Shawnee High School she went on to be a bus driver with Perry School System, then worked at Paul Harris, and then retired as a packer with Nickles Bakery. She was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1275 Auxiliary, the West Central Ohio Quilt Guild, the Town & County Quilters, and the 600 Bowling Club. She loved being with her family, gardening, animals, and had a great zest for living.
Survivors include 5 children – Cindy (Chris) Cummings of Lima; Janice (Steven, deceased) Rowze’e (David Quinn) of Lima; Michael (Karen) Shaw of Lima; Steven (Diana Wilkins) Shaw of Lima; Mamie (William) VanDyke of Beaverdam; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and one sister Phyllis Jean Presar of Wapakoneta.
She was preceded in death by a brother – Robert Furry and 2 sisters – Nancy Nadine Johnson and Mary Louise Howell.
Funeral services will begin 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Pastor Michael Spaulding will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or donor’s choice.
