Fatima Maria Gillett, age 60 of Lima, passed at 11:55 a.m., Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at her residence with her family beside her. She was born July 31, 1961 in Hartford, Connecticut to Elisabeth Backhaus Wilch, who survives in Ohio. On November 21, 1986 she married John Gillett, who survives in Lima.
She had worked as a baker at The Old Barn Outback, Lima. Fatima was a beautiful woman who would help anyone and could make friends with anyone. She will be remember for her big heart, her free spirit, and always pushing forward. It was often said “she could sell air conditioners to an Eskimo in Alaska.”
Also surviving is a special mom – Carolyn Ladd; 3 daughters – Kimberly (Nathan) Thibodeau of Vernon, CT; Nichole Goodman of Sebring, FL; Samantha (Alexander) Robinson of Sebring, FL; 9 grandchildren who affectionity refered to her as ‘Omie’; ‘Ava’, and Grandma – Chris, James, Dominic, Jenniffer, Catharina, Ayden, Perfeita, Elijah, Makeda; 2 brothers – Peter (Layne) Monteiro of Fayettville, NC; Sebastian Veneziano of Pendleton, SC; a sister – Maria (David) Barton of Moodus, CT.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021, 2:00 p.m. at the Delphos Coon Sports Club, 845 Ohio Street, Delphos, Ohio 45833.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Toys for Tots.
