Gary James Bechdolt, of Lima died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Lima memorial Hospital and 5:45 p.m., of an extended illness. He was born May 2, 1939 to William J. and E. June Bechdolt, who preceded him in death.
Gary served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for Western Ohio Stone for many years. Gary moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1974 and became an Over the Road truck driver. After returning to Lima, he worked for Roeder Cartage until retiring.
Gary enjoyed the NASCAR races and watching the Browns, Bengals, and the New Orleans Saints play football on TV. Gary’s beloved cat, Mini, that preceded him in death will be buried with him.
Gary is survived by his wife Shyrl (Fagen) Bechdolt. He is also survived by 3 children by previous marriages and two step children, Angela (Karl) Gernon of Haughton, LA and Troy (Holly) Adams of Rogers, AR. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren: Justin, Coty and Nicole Bechdolt, Victoria & Kristopher Gernon and Austin, Tyler & Brayden Adams.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m., Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Karen Martindell officiating and burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery near Uniopolis where military rites will be observed.
