Gene E. Burden age 90, of Lima, went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by his family at 1:35 p.m. Aug. 27, 2017. He was born to Ernest and Velma Plaugher Burden in Lafayette, Ohio Oct. 2, 1926. He married Martha Wilcox who preceded him in death. He then married Connie Sevitz in 1994, who survives in Lima.
Mr. Burden was employed as a door greeter at Walmart on Allentown Rd for 15 years and formerly a farmer. Gene was a member of Lima Baptist Temple. He was a very special man and loved spending time with his family and his beloved dog, Lillie.
Additional survivors include children: Chad (Karolyn) Eversole, Brent (Shelby) Eversole of Lima, Nathan (Erin) Eversole of TN, Bethany (Shane) Lott of TN and Sarah (Chase) Motter of Forest, grandchildren: Kameron, Talon, Anthony, Maddox, Colt, Samuel, Mark, Alex, Kendall and Kathryn; a sister Jeanette (Kenneth) Hall, a sister-in-law Donna Burden and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by siblings Kenneth (Pauline) Burden, Gary Burden and Janice (Craig) Rex.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Hohman officiating and burial will follow at Salem Cemetery, Westminster.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family.
