Genetta F. Cook, age 76 of Van Wert and formerly of Lima, passed at 11:0 p.m., Monday, October 25, 2021 at Van Wert Manor. She was born December 9, 1944 in Fondee, Kentucky to the late Roy Kenneth and Lillian Christine Presley Norton. In 1988 she married Petrel Cook who died in 1998.

Mrs. Cook was a homemaker and had worked as a nurse’s aid at area nursing homes. She enjoyed going to church and found it very relaxing working in the garden.

Genetta is survived by 3 sons – Joseph Lee McHugh, Jr. of Lima; Thomas Roy McHugh of Lima; Jeffery Allan (Chrissy) McHugh of Van Wert; 2 daughters – Christina Faye McHugh of Lima; Melissa Rose (Eric) Jones-Batman of Lima; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 brother-Ronnie Lee (Jane) Norton of Celina; 4 sisters – Lois (Bill) Preston of Pique; June (Don) Bricker of Wapakoneta; Poinsettia Guidry of Manassas, GA; Wanda (Larry) McNaughton of St. Marys.

She was preceded in death by her former husband – Joseph HcHugh; 3 brothers – Aubrey Roy Norton, Mark Lyn Norton and Johnny Allan Norton.

A gathering of friends and family will be 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Monday, November 1, 2021 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Inc.
Burial of her cremated remains will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima.
