George S. Wieging age 82, of Cridersville passed away 5:33 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018 at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born Feb. 11, 1936 in Landeck, Ohio to the late Alphonse A. and Bernadine A. Brockhaus Wieging. He married Nancy Frueh Aug. 22, 1964 and she survives in Cridersville.
George had been a farmer being named State Farmer in 1954 and American Farmer in 1957. He was a member of Buckeye Allis Club, American Southdown Association, Buckeye Farm Antiques, INC, Allen and Hardin counties Sheep Associations, Ohio Dorset Sheep Association, St. Charles Church and the Wapakoneta Eagles. He had retired from Procter and Gamble after 23 years.
Additional survivors include children: Alphonse ‘Al’ (Misty) Wieging of Grove City, OH, Anthony Wieging, David Wieging both of Cridersville, Phillip (Julie) Wieging of Wapakoneta, Christina ‘Chris’ (Neal) Hendrix of Farmington, MO, Ann (Mike) Murphy of Lima and Ellen Wieging of Cridersville; 8 grandchildren: Landon Wieging, Seth Wieging, Clayton Hendrix, Madeline Wieging, Jasmine Murphy, Kaylee Murphy, Madison Murphy (Wieging) and Frances Hendrix, 3 step grandchildren Justin Cotterman, Lacey Anderson and Megan Cotterman and 9 step great grandchildren: Kobey, Austin, Aubrey, Wiliam, Kahle, Kade, Presley, Rowan and Evelyn.
He was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Lucille (Al) Merschman, Mary Ann (Oscar) Hohlbein, Eileen (Ed) DeVelbiss and Correen (Al) Merschman.
The family will receive friends 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17 at St. Charles Catholic Church with Father Kent Kaufman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Fort Jennings with military rites being observed.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.

Prayers for the family in your time of loss. I worked with George at P&G for many years. He always had a story to tell. Would enjoy running into him at the basketball games and catching up. Praying that Christ Jesus wraps his arms around you all and gives you comfort. I know he will be missed greatly. He loved and was always very proud of his family.
