Georgene “Jean” E. Barnes

Georgene E. ‘Jean’ Barnes, age 79 of Columbus Grove, passed at 1:26 p.m., Monday, November 21, 2022 at Lima Memorial Hospital’s ICU. She was born November 16, 1943 in Bluffton to the late Harry T. and Helen C. Michel Siefer.
Jean had worked as a nurse’s aide at Lima Convalescent Home for over 30 years. Her favorite thing was visiting the Sycamore Winery to dance with friends. Jean loved to read books and work on word puzzles.
She is survived by a daughter-Dawn Barnes of Lima; 2 sons-Richard Barnes, Jr. of Illinois; Alan (Ann) Barnes of North Carolina; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 6 siblings-Betty (Marvin) Ross of Elida; Barb Alexander of Beaverdam; Norbert (Mary Kay) Siefer of Ottawa; Greg Siefer of Columbus Grove; Mary Bishop of Marysville; and Rose (Ed) Sowers of Lima and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by siblings-Leroy Siefer, Marilyn Coomes, Gerald Siefer, Keith Siefer, in-laws- Bill Coomes and Ed Alexander.
Per Jean’s wishes, there will be no services of visitation. Her family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
