Geraldine W. ‘Jerry’ Sproul, 102, passed away at 1:55 a.m., Wednesday morning, January 22, 2020, at her daughter’s residence in Wapakoneta where she had stayed the last 5 years and her permanent residence the last 2 years. She was born on October 28, 1917, at home, to the late Edward and Blanche (Williams) Thompson in Cridersville. On March 31, 1939 she married Harold Eugene Sproul who preceded her in death on October 7, 1993. She and Harold lived and raised their family in Cridersville.
Geraldine graduated in 1935 from Cridersville High School. On October 7, 2017 she was presented a “Proclamation” by the mayor Rick Walls, for living in and being the oldest resident in Cridersville. We will definitely miss asking her about people, events and all the history of Cridersville- She remembered everything and anything we asked her. An absolute great mind, clear to the end. Mrs. Sproul was a homemaker and attended Cridersville Church of the Nazarene. She had been a member, for many years, at the Free Methodist Church. Geraldine loved animals and Especially her 2 Chihuahuas, Charlie and Precious. She referred to them as “Best Friends!” She read her Bible on a daily basis and was an avid advocate of God’s word. Everyone who came to know her, loved and cherished their friendship. She was definitely an overall, well rounded, Christian and loved by all who knew her. “She was the sweetest little lady”.
She is survived by her three children: James L. Sproul, Cridersville, Mary Ann (Richard) Schindler, Lima and Sharon (Allan) Roznowski, Wapakoneta; 6 grandchildren: James L. Sproul, Jr., Kathy Prater, Amy (Mark) Freeman, Steven Sproul, Jeffry (Kristin) Schindler and Lynnette (Roznowski) Spratt; 8 great grandchildren: Emily and Abby Freeman, Brady (Kimber) Prater, Kayla (Josh) Cisco, Kyley (Scott) Jordan, Joseph Spratt and Austin and Morgan Schindler; 5 great great grandchildren: Ryan and Griffin Jordan, Quinn and Ava Cisco and Andi Prater and 2 nieces: Charlene Butterfield and Joan Gossard.
She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Beth A. Sproul and a sister Lola (Fred) Beery.
Funeral service will begin at 10:30 Saturday morning, January 25, 2020 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Rev. Jonathan Spyker will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Cridersville Church of the Nazarene.

You were blessed to have a wonderful mother who loved the Lord. Her faith is now sight as she stands in His presence. "Eyes have not seen, nor ears heard the wonderful things that have been prepared for those who love Him." She has also been reunited with family and friends who have gone on before her. We weep not as those who have no hope. I'm so sorry that I cannot attend the memorial service. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. I will always remember her smile that seemed to light up her face, and the gentle spirit that was so much a part of her. Thank you, Sharon, for caring for her in your home. I think God must have given her such a long life because she was loved so much and was given such good care. May you experience the peace of God at this most difficult time.

Our sincere condolences to all of the family members of Geraldine Sproul. I knew her and son James from banking days in Cridersville-and grandson, Steven, as Wapak school classmate of our son, Roberto. and Steven's days at Walmart in Wapak as a former coworker. Joe and I both knew Mary & Dick and Al and Sharon as family friends. Geraldine was such a precious lady. May she rest in peace.
