Geraldine W. ‘Jerry’ Sproul, 102, passed away at 1:55 a.m., Wednesday morning, January 22, 2020, at her daughter’s residence in Wapakoneta where she had stayed the last 5 years and her permanent residence the last 2 years. She was born on October 28, 1917, at home, to the late Edward and Blanche (Williams) Thompson in Cridersville. On March 31, 1939 she married Harold Eugene Sproul who preceded her in death on October 7, 1993. She and Harold lived and raised their family in Cridersville.
Geraldine graduated in 1935 from Cridersville High School. On October 7, 2017 she was presented a “Proclamation” by the mayor Rick Walls, for living in and being the oldest resident in Cridersville. We will definitely miss asking her about people, events and all the history of Cridersville- She remembered everything and anything we asked her. An absolute great mind, clear to the end. Mrs. Sproul was a homemaker and attended Cridersville Church of the Nazarene. She had been a member, for many years, at the Free Methodist Church. Geraldine loved animals and Especially her 2 Chihuahuas, Charlie and Precious. She referred to them as “Best Friends!” She read her Bible on a daily basis and was an avid advocate of God’s word. Everyone who came to know her, loved and cherished their friendship. She was definitely an overall, well rounded, Christian and loved by all who knew her. “She was the sweetest little lady”.
She is survived by her three children: James L. Sproul, Cridersville, Mary Ann (Richard) Schindler, Lima and Sharon (Allan) Roznowski, Wapakoneta; 6 grandchildren: James L.
