Grace Louise Allen, age 91 of Lima, passed away at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017 at her residence with her family by her side. She was born July 23, 1925 to the late Walter Frederick and Iva May Harpster Smith. She married Perry Moran Allen who survives in Lima.
Grace had worked at the Huddle Restaurant for 30 years, had also worked at St. Rita’s Medical Center, was a member of the St. Gerard Catholic Church, and was a former member of the Eagles Lodge #370 Auxilliary. She was an avid dancer and member of the Springbrook Dance Club, a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Lima Locos. She loved shopping at the malls and especially time with her family.
Survivors also include – 2 sons – Michael (Tana) Joy of LIma; William (Jan) Sellers of Lima; a daughter – Patricia (James) Herrin of Edisto, S.C.; a brother – Roland Smith of Lima; 2 sisters – Marjorie (Joseph) Sellers of Springfield; Virginia Bailey of Dayton, 7 grandchildren – Ryan (Rachelle) Joy, Darren Joy, Jacob Sellers, Michelle Duncan, Chad Duncan, Shane Duncan, Adam Beard; 12 great grandchildren – Dylan and Brayden Joy; Tana – Anthony – Patti – Peggy Haas; Emma – Bryce and Chloe Duncan; Connor – Hannah and Andrew Duncan; 3 great great grandchildren – Ian – Skyler and Grayson Haas.
She was preceded in death by brother – Walter Smith, sister Charlotte Smith, granddaughters – Leah Christine Joy and Abby Grace Sellers; husbands – Edward Joy, Willard Sellers, Lowell McDonald.
Funeral services will begin noon on Thursday, January 12, 2016 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Cemetery, near Cridersville.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to LCC High School; St. Rita’s Hospice, the Equestrian Therapy, or donors choice.
