Guenter Immel, age 80, of Lima died 5:48 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 16 at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born May 27, 1934 in Siegen, Germany to the late Edward and Emma Sweisfurth Immel. He married Norma Lee Caudill Sept. 15, 1990 and she preceded him in death Oct. 24, 2009.
Mr. Immel had retired from Ingersol Rand and Whemco where he had been an engineer. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 199 and former member of Eagles Lodge Aerie 370. He loved to travel with his spouse Norma and celebrating their birthdays in Gatlinburg, TN. He enjoyed watching soccer and the FIFA Tournaments.
Survivors include a son Toresten (Suzanne) Immel of Ferndorf, Germany, 5 step children: Christine (B.J.) Shock of Wapak, Lawrence ‘Jay’ (Barb Truesdale) McMinn of Delphos, Marilee McMinn of Wapak, Pamela (Paul) Custer of Lima and Sheri McMinn of Van Wert, numerous grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Helmut Immel.
A memorial dinner will be held Monday, Dec. 29 at the Moose Lodge from 5-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
