Harold W. McNeil, age 74, of Lima, died at 9:03 a.m., Sunday, November 20, 2011 in St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. He was born June 5, 1937 in Grundy, Virginia. He is the son of Clyde and Elizabeth Looney McNeil. Both parents are deceased. On October 17, 1961 he married Inis A. Layne, who survives.
Other survivors include a son – David Harold (Anita) McNeil of Lima; a daughter – Tracy Diane (Tony) Green of Lima; 5 grandchildren – Shane, Alex, Ciara, Emily, Samantha; 1 step grandchild – Cameron; 1 brother – Dayton “Rich” (Linda) McNeil of Beaverdam.
Mr. McNeil was a retired truck driver with Scot Lad Foods. In his 30 years of driving truck, he never had an accident where he received the safe driver award every year. He was a member of the Shawnee Church of Christ. He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, and hunting. He was known for his great sense of humor and being a good Christian man. He was a wonderful husband with his best buddy – Inis, and a great father and grandfather.
Funeral services will begin Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 1:30 p.m., at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Rev. Larry Molaski will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p..m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
