Helen M. Phillips age 93, of Lima died 6:09 p.m., Friday July 5 at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice. She was born Sept. 6, 1919 in Lima, Ohio to Harry Lewis and Elsie Faye Binkley Hodde. She married James H. ‘Red’ Phillips Oct. 23, 1937 and he preceded her in death Dec. 13, 1988.
Mrs. Phillips led a very busy life as a mother and farm wife. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Band Boosters, Athletic Club, Community Club, Sewing Guild, Grange, Fire Department Auxiliary and 4 H Advisor all for Perry. She also was a member of the Allen County Farm Bureau and Dairy Service Unit and the Eastside Lioness Club.
Survivors include 4 children: Patricia L. (Philip) Brenneman, Larry E. Phillips and Robert (Karin) Phillips all of Lima and Terry L. (Beverly) Phillips of Harrod, 12 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren and a sister Irene M. Stiener of Lima. She was preceded in death by a son James R. Phillips, a sister M. June Hodde and 3 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 2-8 p.m., Monday, July 8th at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Alex Wiles officiating. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, Lima Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be given to Perry Fire Department, Van Wert Inpatient Hospice or Perry United Methodist Church.
