Obituary

Jack Lynn Clay, of Arizona and formerly of rural Cridersville, passed away at Baywood Banner Hospital on Friday, July 30, 2021 in Mesa, Arizona.

Jack was born on January 2, 1937 in Lima to Gerard and Mary (Stumbaugh) Clay who preceded him in death.

On March 24, 1962 he married Marcia (Mart) Clay who still survives.

Jack graduated from Shawnee High School in 1955 and then went to work at Ohio Steel which then turned into Teledyne Ohio Steel. He then went to work for Ford Motor Company was laid off then went to work for Shawnee Fire Department. He left there and went back to Teledyne Ohio Steel where he retired. After retiring from Teledyne, he then started his own business called Clays Custom Staining and Refinishing, he retired from that, he then went to work for Apollo Career Center where he helped build Apollo homes.

Jack loved sports, coached midget football, and ran the stadium for the midget football team. He coached 8th grade football for Shawnee Middle School. He also ran the chains for middle school football, ran check in for referees, and ran the ticket gate for Varsity Football. He helped with cheering section at Shawnee Basketball Varsity games.

Jack was a member of Cridersville United Methodist Church for 30 years and is a member of Sun Valley Community Church.

Survivors include 3 children: Brad Alan (Christine) Clay of Lexington, Kentucky; Kelly Ann Clay of Columbus, Ohio; Kyle Justin (Jenni) Clay of Scottsdale, Arizona; 6 grandchildren – Madison Clay of Denver, Colorado, Caleb Clay of Colorado Springs; Mac Kenzie Clay of Biloxi, Mississippi; Vivian Clay of Scottsdale, Arizona; Violet Clay of Scottsdale, Arizona; Henry Clay of Scottsdale, Arizona.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 9, 2021 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Rev. Thomas Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Shawnee Cemetery.

The family will receive friends, between 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cridersville UMC Food Pantry, 105 Shawnee Road Cridersville, Ohio 45806.

Kelly and family: Sending my sincerest condolences. May your father be resting in the arms of the angels that carried him to his home above. Let your faith in God console you. Allow your family and friends to do for you. You each take the amount of time you need each one grieves differently.
