Jack M. Unum 83, of Lima died 5:06 p.m., Jan. 6, 2014 at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born June 4, 1930 in Sidney, Ohio to Herman and Naomi Hornig Unum. On Oct. 10, 1956 he married his soul-mate, wife Mary A. Johnson . They were married for fifty eight years.
He was a 34 year member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, Masonic Lodge 205, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1275 of Lima. He also belonged to the Eagles Lodge in Lima. He enjoyed being a private pilot and avid fisherman, always spending time at his summer place at Lake Erie. He was a veteran of the Air Force having several fond years in Korea as a crew chief to help keep the B 29s running. He loved to sing and play his guitar. He worked 30 years at Sheller Globe and retired from Superior Coaches.
Survivors include his wife Mary A., a son Anthony ‘Tony’ Stacy Unum of Elmore, Ohio, a grandson Zachary and a granddaughter Anastasia E. and a nephew Mike Unum of Merritt Island, Florida. He will be missed by his family friends and his special canine buddy, Sir Brilliant Spark, II.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Robert Unum and a sister Dorothy Unum.
There will be no visitation or service as requested by the deceased.
